Apolygonis any closed figure with straight line sides which can be drawn on a flat surface.

is a polygon. are not polygons.

Atriangleis a polygon with 3 sides.
Aquadrilateralis a polygon with 4 sides.
Apentagonis a polygon with 5 sides.
Ahexagonis a polygon with 6 sides.
Anoctagonis a polygon with 8 sides.

TRIANGLES


There are several types of triangle you should be familiar with:

scalene right angled isosceles equilateral

REGULAR POLYGONS


Aregular polygonis one in which all sides are equal and all angles are equal.

For example, these are all regular polygons:

equilateral triangle square regular hexagon
