Habit of Mind with a brief description. Another area lists whether or not
a habit was a “personal goal area” for the student that particular grading
period. In another set of columns, the teacher indicates whether the stu-
dent is using a habit rarely, developing it, or consistently applying it. A
section of Marcy Open School’s report card also allows parents to note
their children’s work on the habits (see Figure 14.4). Having the teacher
report and the parent report side by side allows the child to see how the
two compare. In addition, the parent and the teacher work with the stu-
dent to set goals for the next quarter.
