Sample Problem: Force Acting on a Conductor
When a current-carrying conductor is contained within a magnetic
field, the force produced is called Lorentz force. This force is basic to the
operation of electric motors. The force is greatest when the conductor is
perpendicular to the magnetic field, and minimum (0) when it is parallel.
The maximum Lorentz force is expressed as:
