Nocturnes

IN THIS QUARTET of semi-abstract drawings made with

India ink, discord is balanced against rhythm to create

mood. Lines made with a steel dip pen take on a scratchy

nervousness. These vibrate against washes of shadow and

pitch-black mass. I flicked spatters of ink and rubbed the

paper with a wet and a dry brush to achieve these effects.
