Upland Shrubland Communities


Upland shrublands are plant communities characterized by a shrub canopy of at least 50%.


SHRUB SWAMP


An inland, freshwater wetland, that is dominated by woody plant species less than 20 feet tall.


These swamps occur along the shores of ponds, lakes or rivers and in wet depressions and


valleys. The substrate is usually a mineral soil or muck. Seasonal fluctuations in the water


levels support a diverse flora and fauna.


Examples Include: Seton Falls (BX), Alley Pond (QU), High Rock (SI).
