Planned promotional events are a good way of stimulating customer interest.
Some typical examples of special promotional events are:

They require detailed planning, preparation, and media coordination to be
effective.


Some elements of media planning for a typical event are:


Advance press releases announcing
the upcoming event
Newspaper Ads placed several
weeks in advance of the event
to raise awareness
Any special banners, signage, or
printing of handout materials
would be prepared at least
2-3 weeks in advance of the
event

Newspaper Ads starting two weeks
in advance announcing major
features of the event such as
celebrity attendance, special
demonstrations, etc.
The week of the event, detailed

before the event advertising
items and prices featured at the
event

radio or television Ads might be
run in support of the event and
reinforcing the other media
advertising.
