Once your aerobic system is ready to handle anaerobic exer-
cise, you must determine how much it can handle. Everyone is
different, and stress from all other areas in life should be a con-
sideration as stress is like anaerobic exercise. For some people
one anaerobic workout per week is sufficient; others with low-
stress lifestyles may be able to handle up to three weekly anaer-
obic workouts.
For most people, the bulk of anaerobic benefits will be gained
in three to four weeks, at which point it’s time to focus again on
the aerobic system. In this way you will be able to reap the ben-
efits of anaerobic training with less chance for illness, injury or
compromised body chemistry.
