through faith. At this point there is no longer any distinction between natural and
spiritual descendants, for the law has been fulfilled through Christ and now all
who call on Him are saved through faith. The Seed has come and begotten children
to His Father through His death on the cross. And these are now the true offspring
of Abraham.
So now those who do not believe in Christ, whether Jews or Gentiles, are not
Abraham’s true sons. While those who believe, both Jews and Gentiles, are
Abraham’s sons. Jesus therefore propagates the spiritual line of descendants of
Abraham, and He is the only way to God and to heaven. This was God’s plan all
along, when He called Abraham and promised him a Seed, an inheritance, and
many descendants.
The Book of Ephesians 2:14- 19 puts this perfectly, ‘For he himself is our peace, who
has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,
by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was
to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body
to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.
He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.
For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit. Consequently, you are no
longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of
his household.’
And again it says in Romans 8:29- 30 : ‘For those God foreknew he also predestined to be
conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and
sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he
justified, he also glorified.’
And as Peter says in 1 Peter 1:23 , ‘For you have been born again, not of perishable seed,
but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.’ Christ the Word of
God is our imperishable Seed.
And so Galatians 4:7 says, ‘ So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you
are his child, God has made you also an heir.’ Through Christ, even those born as
slaves, or outside the commonwealth of Israel, even those who in the past defied
God and His promises, can now be birthed again into children with rights as
Abraham’s offspring. No race, creed, tribe or nation, is excluded from spiritual
