YOU ARE THE SON OF A KING
When God created us or brought us forth through our parents, he brought us into
a kingdom, His Kingdom. This is easy to understand when you recognize that God
is the King of kings and Lord of lords. He made all things and everything belongs
to Him. It follows then, that the man He created in His own image, belongs to Him
and His Kingdom.
Man is different from all other things created by God. In Genesis 1: 26-27 God said,
‘ “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in
the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,^ and over all the
creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the
image of God he created them; male and female he created them.’
Before this point, God had created everything else by saying ‘Let there be...’ or ‘Let
the earth produce,’ and ‘Let the water teem with...’
Herein is the mystery and the worth of Man, both male and female. God said two
poignant things ‘Let us make man’ , and ‘In our own image’.
The Godhead, three in one, went to work with their own hands, to create man.
God had the power and authority to simply say, ‘Let there be Man’. But He did
not. He wanted something more precious, more valuable, something made
intricately with His personal touch. He wanted to mould man Himself, so that he
could design Him with a loving intimacy and bond with him from the beginning.
God chose to make man in His own image. So he was not leaving it to any chance.
Of all his vast creation, this one He had to create with His own hands, like a highly
valued tapestry that is made for high purpose, and to bring great pleasure to the
creator.
Likeness of image usually speaks of relationship. It speaks of genetics. God
produced man after His own kind, to look like Him, because he was His. He was
God’s son. And so in the genealogy of Jesus in Luke 3:23- 38 , the Bible calls Adam
‘the son of God’ (Luke 3:38); because he had God as his father. He was brought
