We came to know that the lightest elements, hydrogen, and
helium- 4 were formed billions of years ago, shortly after the
instant of a hot big bang and in hot cores of stars and
supernovae. Thus telescopes and accelerators had enabled us to
know that, as in heavens as on Earth. Carbon and Hydrogen are
common elements in the universe as they are on Earth and in our
bodies. We and the universe, we are one and the same, we are
built of star stuffs, atoms cooked from cosmic relic some
billions of years ago are part of us. We had probed to high
energy scales, having a glimpse of the early universe as just a
sea of hot quark-gluon plasma before matter was stable. Since
we are late comers here, we are like ‘forensic scientists’ arriving
at a murder scene, seems it happened last Thursday. By studying
the blood stains, the fingerprints, if any, we gain an insight of
how it occurred. Just like how forensic scientists study a murder
scene, it’s very difficult to recreate the whole event or to trace
the story to before the crime took place- what triggered it at first
place, as it is very difficult for us to recreate the cosmos from
the Plank era. Despite that, at last the forensic scientist will
gather ample evidence and facts to prove the crime, as we also
acquire knowledge and empirical facts to prove the existence,
and evolution of our universe in space-time.
