13.8 billion years old and existed from a singularity.
Currently we know that our universe is in an accelerating
expansion, with possibility that in future it will face a cold
death, a cruel scotch earthing event, which will wipe all
intelligent life. Traversing back in time, our universe initially
was an extremely dense 'fireball', with maximum entropy, which
implies that our universe was not fine-tuned from the beginning
as it existed from chaos.
A universe from chaos to order
Chaos theory is simply described by the butterfly effect, small
flapping wings of a butterfly can cause a tornado, meaning small
causes may have devastating effects, thus inflation caused the
existence of a vast universe, in line with principle of causality.
Lenny Smith in his book, CHAOS: A VERY SHORT INTRODUCTION (2007), he
gave a simple description of chaos:
