discovering concentric circles in CMBr. Quantum mechanics
and String theory can take us to before the Big Bang. Maurizio
Gasperini discussed this issue in detail in his book, THE UNIVERSE
BEFORE THE BIG BANG, COSMOLOGY AND STRING THEORY. In the Preface of that
book he said that:
"One of the possible consequences of string theory is a
cosmological scenario in which the great initial deflagration
commonly called the Big Bang may not necessarily coincide
with the birth of our Universe; rather, it could represent just an
intermediate step in the whole history of the cosmos."
Gasperini took into account the theoretical and experimental
developments in the physics of the early Universe, considering
results from the WMAP satellite and the inflationary scenario.
Gasperini define the Big Bang as an event just occurred during a
certain moment in time, as a part of those events which led to
the existence of our universe. Stephen Hawking’s proposal of
time beginning at the instant of the Big Bang seems not holding
