nature, of that symbol. Pythagoras was a brilliant tutor who
taught his students to do the following verses in the morning of
everyday:
As soon as you awake,
In order lay the actions,
To be done the coming day.
During the dawn of everyday, he advised his students also to do
the following verses:
Allow not sleep to close your eyes
Before three times reflecting on,
Your actions of the day. What deeds,
Done well, what not, what left undone?
For the first time l came across these Pythagorean teachings, l
remembered when l was in high school. I attended my studies at
a Roman Catholic mission school, so there was an epoch, after
night studies, when we gathered in a Lecture Theatre. We have a
moment of silent when we were advised to reflect our actions of
that day, what deeds done well, what not and what left undone.
During that moment, l didn’t know why we were doing that. I
derived the meaning behind this that very day l studied
