A brief human history
Since 100 000 years ago in era of Neanderthals, Homo sapiens
neanderthalensis, the universe was a mystery. They lived in
Europe, Africa and the Near East. These human ancestors were
able to care for their families in need, and had the culture of
burying their dead ritualistically. Looking up, they saw small
twinkling stars at night, the sun appearing and disappearing
periodically, the Moon hung above them, the rains falling down
from the sky, and many more other, seemingly, weird events to
them. They didn't have explanations of all these.
Neanderthals were not the beginning of the story, evolution and
paleontological studies and empirical evidence gathered, is
ample for us to believe that there were other human ancestors,
humanoids, e.g. Homo Erectus, Homo Habilis and
Ramapithicus, the roots of our species. Along the chain of
evolution, the pressure imposed by the environment, and
mutations in DNA base pairing, gave rose to the increase in
surface area of the neocortex, to cope with the natural selection.
