PRIDE CHEKERAGalileo was the one who resurrected Kopernik theory of an
Earth-centered solar system. He confirmed this through his
observations of the skies using his telescope. He discovered
craters and mountains on Moon, 4 moons of Jupiter, Ganymede,
Europa, Calisto and Io, sun spots and Venus going through its
"phases".
Besides these discoveries, he discovered more other things
including the fact that freely falling bodies, heavy or light, had
the same, constant acceleration and also that a body moving on a
perfectly smooth horizontal surface would neither speed up nor
slow down. He is also known for his discovery, in 1583, that
each oscillation of a pendulum takes the same amount of time
despite the difference in amplitude.
Galileo's fame sky rocketed, and his observations and
discoveries, since they contradict the church-supported Aristotle
teachings, that the church arrested him twice, placing him under
trial in a court called Inquisition, a heresy for all those against
the church philosophies.
In 1633, Galileo was put under house arrest, and died in 1642
whilst blind, the year of Newton's birth. Don't ever make a
mistake of directly looking at the sun through a telescope! That's
why Galileo died blind. Whilst another guru perished, another
was given birth. It was time for reasoning and getting out of the
remote mental zones of past beliefs.
