PRIDE CHEKERAGalileo confirmed the heliocentric model, denouncing
geocentricism. The Germany astronomer, Johannes Kepler
found that all planets defined elliptical orbits around the sun. He
discovered that the further away was the planet the greater was
the radius of the elliptical orbit. The furthest distance of a planet
from the sun as a focus is called aphelion, and the most
proximity distance to the sun is the perihelion. If the Earth, as all
other planets, was orbiting around the sun, what was holding it
in that orbit? Why was it orbiting the sun but not Jupiter? No
one was able to answer this before.
