44. Four Radical Evangelists

PIKEand I were on the way home from our midweek church ser-
vice when we realized we had missed dinner. “Let’s stop at
Arby’s,” he suggested.
I should tell you our church is in a pretty rough part of town, and
it was late. But I swallowed any fear I had about the neighborhood
and agreed. I was hungry.
As we entered the restaurant, I was relieved to see only one little
old lady sipping tea in the corner. So we put in our order for beef
with cheese and a double order of curly fries.
That’s when they walked in: four motorcycle types you wouldn’t
want to meet in a dark alley. They wore black sleeveless T-shirts,
leather cowboy hats, earrings, and wall-to-wall tattoos. Their hair
was long and stringy. One had a long blonde pigtail. And they were
walking in our direction.
