62. Praying over Our Goals

VERYyear, after the confusion of the Christmas holidays dies
down, I look forward to spending a quiet day of prayer over my
goals for the new year. I settle down in a comfortable spot and wel-
come the Lord’s presence as I open the Goals section of my note-
book.
Over the years I have found that there is tremendous power in
committing my goals and spiritual dreams to paper in the clearest
language possible. Some goals (such as my commitments to Bible
study and prayer) have been in my notebook for decades because
they are daily ones to which I will remain committed until the Lord
calls me home. Some I carry forward from year to year, revising them
as I go. And there are almost always several totally new ones that
spring up based on something new the Lord is showing me.
My first set of goals involves my relationship with the Lord. These
