79. The Blessing of Discipline

URgrandson Drew really wants to know where the bound-
aries for his behavior lie. Just how far can he venture, and
what will the consequences be if he exceeds his limits?
As loving parents, Jenni and Andy have made the boundaries very
clear to both Drew and Kaylee, his sister. There is a list of “no-no’s”
posted on the refrigerator door that they clearly explain and fre-
quently discuss. The children know that their parents have drawn
these limits for their own good. And when they purposely overstep
them, they know they may face the administration of “the spanking
spoon.”
Recently when Drew was staying at our house I could tell he was
contemplating a little misbehavior. “Cece,” he asked me very seri-
ously, “do gwandmudders have ’panking ’poons?”
