Thosestainsarebetterthantheartofalchemy.

Ascanbeseenfromthispoem,Ḥāfiẓ’gentlysubvertsthebragsoftheprince’s
might such that the poem’s text completely negates its political context.
Admonishingtheyoungprince,thepoetextolsthedustyvestimentsofhisdervish
habit,andlikeShakespeare’sHenryVI(‘mycrowniscall’edcontent/Acrownitis
thatseldomkingsenjoy’^220 ),vauntsthevirtuesofcontentmentandholypoverty,
