Part IX: Business Intelligence
■ (^) Environments: Containers for sets of a new type of variable. You create these new
Environment Variables inside Environments.
■ (^) Executions: A confi guration for the execution of a package, including the over-
ridden values of Parameters, Connection Managers, and the Environment to run a
package.
■ Encryption: Of Parameters and Connection Managers.
■ (^) Row Level Security: Projects deploy to the server in Project folders; security can
be administered much more granularly at this level or at the server level.
■ (^) Logging: Of package executions available on the server. A new dashboard is avail-
able after packages are executed on the SSIS Server. The log displays success and
failure messages and warnings, as well as the values of parameters and has rich
data visualizations.

Because an instance of SSIS is now tied to the SQL instance in SSMS, you no longer connect to SSIS to manage it.
Configuring a Project in the SSIS Server
Packages are run by creating an Execution. An Execution runs using the confi gured values
set inside the SSIS Server. To confi gure an execution for a project, right-click the project
from the project folder, and click Properties. The properties editor for the project appears.
