KPIs
A Key Performance Indicator (KPI) is a server-side calculation meant to defi ne an organiza-
tion’s most important metrics. You frequently use these metrics, such as net profi t, client
utilization, or funnel conversion rate in dashboards or other reporting tools.
Within the KPI’s view, an individual KPI consists of several components:
■ The actual value of the metric
■ (^) The goal for the metric, for example, budget sales
■ The status for the metric, comparing the actual and goal values, returning a value
between –1 and 1
■ The trend for the metric, showing which direction the metric is headed, also
returning a value between –1 and 1
Actions
The Actions tab of the Cube Designer provides a way to defi ne actions that a client can per-

a total, or a reporting action can launch a report based on a dimension attribute’s value.
Actions can be specifi c to any displayed data, including individual cells and dimension
