The Connect to Server dialog.

With a connection made to the Analysis Services Server, within the Object Explorer pane on
the left, right-click the Server (topmost with yellow box and running green arrow indicator)
node and select properties. The Analysis Services properties window displays, showing all the
confi gurable settings for this server instance. Take note of the option at the bottom of the
Analysis Server Properties window Show Advanced (All) Properties, as shown in Figure 54-6.

With the Analysis Server Properties, many different properties may be modifi ed to suit the
specifi c needs of a given environment. Some of the properties, such as BackupDir and
DataDir, were actually confi gured as a result of the choices made during the installation.
In addition, it is worth noting that the properties displayed for a given server instance of
Analysis Services varies depending on the Server Mode selected. More specifi cally, the prop-
erties shown within the Analysis Server Properties will be different for a Multidimensional
and Data Mining mode Analysis Services server instance than a Tabular mode Analysis
Services server instance.

Commonly adjustedBasic and Advanced Analysis Server Properties for a Multidimensional
and Data Mining mode Analysis Services server instance include the following:
