- In SQL Server Management Studio, connect to an Analysis Services server instance,
and browse a cube. - With a few measures and dimensions selected for browsing, return to SQL Server
Profi ler, and in the Trace Properties dialog, press Run to start the trace. - With the trace started, return to SQL Server Management Studio, and press Execute
Query. - Having run an Analysis Services query, return to SQL Server Profi ler, and stop the
trace. - Trace results should display as shown in Figure 54-8.

Tr ace Re sul t s.SQL Server Extended Events (XEvents) enables tracing events using a less-intrusive
monitoring system that consumes fewer resources. In addition, performance counters can
be monitored to get additional insights into the operation of an Analysis Services instance.Summary
