To create a basic report using the Report Wizard that displays the reseller contact informa-

tion shown in Figure 55-1, fi rst open the Report Designer in SSDT by going to Start ➪ All

Programs ➪ Microsoft SQL Server 2012 ➪ SQL Server Data Tools. SSDT opens. To create

a Reporting Services Project, go to File ➪ New ➪ Project. From the New Project dia-

log box ensure that Business Intelligence is the selected project type, and then select

Report Server Project Wizard from the choices of available templates. Name the project

AdventureworksReports and select the fi le location for the project. Click OK.

Follow these steps to create and view the reseller report with the wizard:

1. If the Welcome screen appears with the Report Wizard dialog box, click Next.


2. Select the radio button for New Data Source.


3. Name the source AWDW.


4. Select Microsoft SQL Server under Type.


5. Click Edit.


6. In the Connection Properties window, type in the server name where your copy of
   AdventureworksDW is located.


7. Supply the credentials needed to connect to the server (Windows Authentication or
   SQL Server user and password).


8. From the drop-down menu for the database, select AdventureworksDW.


9. Click OK to fi nish confi guring the Connection.


10. Returning to the Report Wizard, click the box to make this a Shared Data Source.


11. Click Next.


12. In the Query window, paste the query from your query editor:
    SELECT dsr.ResellerName , dsr.Phone
    ,dsr.AddressLine1, dsr.AddressLine2, dg.City,
    dg.StateProvinceCode , dg.EnglishCountryRegionName ,
    dsr.AnnualSales
    FROM DimReseller dsr
    JOIN DimGeography dg ON dsr.GeographyKey = dg.GeographyKey


13. To choose the report type, click Next.


14. Leave the radio button beside Tabular selected, and click Next.


15. To move fi elds from the Available Fields section to the report, click the Details but-
    ton for every fi eld until all fi elds have been moved to the Detail section. Click Next.


16. Select Corporate as a color scheme. Click Next


17. Select the Report Server and folder on which you wish to deploy the report.


18. Name the report Reseller Contact, and click Finish.


19. Click the Preview tab in the Report Designer to view the report.
