FIGURE 56-1
When installing Reporting Services during a SQL Server 2012 installation, you can install the
necessary components for both native mode and SharePoint integrated mode. This fi gure
shows installation of both modes.

Reporting Services is now a service application in SharePoint. It is no longer a web service.
There can now be more than one Reporting Services instance on a SharePoint server. New
Reporting Services service applications are mapped to web applications inside SharePoint
by performing the following steps:

  1. From the Central Admin UI, under the Application Management section, select
    Manage Service Applications.

  2. Click New ➪ SQL Server Reporting Services Service Application.

  3. Perform the outlined steps in the next screen’s four sections (Name, Application
Pool, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) Service Database, and Web Application
Association) as shown in Figure 56-2.

  4. Provide a name for your new Service application in the Name section.

  5. In the Application Pool section, assign the service application to an application
pool. You can choose an existing application pool or create a new one here.

  6. Also in the Application Pool section, select the wanted security account.
