Chapter 56: Confi guring and Administering Reporting Services

56

To deploy a report using the Report Manager, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Report Manager application in a web browser. The default location for the
Report Manager is http://localhost/reports. This default url changes for a
    named instance to http://localhost/reports_instancename.

  2. Navigate to the folder to which you want to deploy the report.

  3. Click the Upload File button.

  4. Enter the path to the fi le, or use the Browse button to fi nd the fi le.

  5. Enter the report name.

  6. If you want to overwrite an existing report with the same name, check the option
to Overwrite Item if it exists.

  7. Click OK to upload the fi le and return to the contents of the folder. The new report
    now appears in the list.
It’s a good idea to execute the report and verify that the data source is valid. Reports using
shared data sources and shared datasets need to have the paths of the data source and
dataset redirected. To access report properties, click the arrow next to the report, as shown
in Figure 56-4, and select Manage. Use the Data Sources link on the Properties tab of the
report to either select a shared data source or specify a custom data source for the report,
as shown in Figure 56-5. Use the datasets link below the Data Sources link to update the
references for any shared datasets the report uses. You should also review the other links
available on the Properties tab to set parameter defaults and confi gure report execution,
    history, and security settings.
