  1. Expand DimReseller and drag ResellerName to the Report Filter area in the
    PivotTable Field List. ResellerName is added as a fi lter on the PivotTable area. Click
    the drop-down menu, and select the reseller named A Typical Bike Shop from the
    list. The product list, sales amount, and order quantity is fi ltered to refl ect only the
    sum of the orders placed by this particular reseller.

  2. You have just created your fi rst BI Semantic Model using PowerPivot Excel add-in.
    To save your PowerPivot analysis, click File ➪ Save and provide a name, for example
    AWPowerPivot. The PowerPivot analysis is saved as part of the Excel workbook and
    can be referred to as a PowerPivot workbook.


Extending a BI Semantic Model with PowerPivot


The SQL Server 2012 PowerPivot Excel add-in introduces new features to extend a basic BI
Semantic Model created in a PowerPivot workbook. These new features include:
