  1. From the list select the Report Data Source option. The data source properties
    screen opens.

  2. Type a name for the shared data source fi le, for example AWPowerPivotDS.

  3. From the Data Source Type drop-down list, select Microsoft BI Semantic Model for
    Power View.

  4. In the Connection String textbox, type the URL to the PowerPivot workbook.
    For example: Data Source=http://sql2012rtm/PowerPivot%20Gallery/
    AWPowerPivot.xlsx.

  5. Click the Test Connection button. You should see a message in green below the Test
    Connection button displaying the message: Connection String Created Successfully.
    Figure 59-3 shows the data source properties screen with the entries used for this
    example.

  6. Click OK. The Report Data Source fi le is created.

  7. To launch Power View using the newly created Report Data Source fi le, click the
    fi le’s drop-down menu options, and select Create Power View Report.
    The next section walks you through the steps to create BI Semantic Model Connection fi les
    based on a PowerPivot workbook and an Analysis Services Tabular Model database.
