Creating a BI Semantic Model Connection File
To create a BI Semantic Model Connection fi le based on a PowerPivot workbook follow the
next steps:
- Launch your browser, and navigate to the SharePoint 2010 Connection Files docu-
ment library created in the Creating a Connection File Library section. - Under the Library Tools tab on the SharePoint Ribbon click the Documents option.
The Documents menu options display in the SharePoint Ribbon section. - Click the small downward pointing arrow in the right corner of the New Document
menu option to display a drop-down menu. - Select the BI Semantic Model Connection option from the list. The New BI Semantic
Model Connection screen opens. - Type a name for the shared data source fi le, for example, AWPowerPivotBISMC.
- In the Workbook URL or Server Name textbox, type the URL of the PowerPivot
workbook, for example, http://sql2012rtm/PowerPivot%20Gallery/
AWPowerPivot.xlsx.
