Creating a BI Semantic Model Connection File
To create a BI Semantic Model Connection fi le based on a PowerPivot workbook follow the
next steps:


  1. Launch your browser, and navigate to the SharePoint 2010 Connection Files docu-
    ment library created in the Creating a Connection File Library section.

  2. Under the Library Tools tab on the SharePoint Ribbon click the Documents option.
    The Documents menu options display in the SharePoint Ribbon section.

  3. Click the small downward pointing arrow in the right corner of the New Document
    menu option to display a drop-down menu.

  4. Select the BI Semantic Model Connection option from the list. The New BI Semantic
    Model Connection screen opens.

  5. Type a name for the shared data source fi le, for example, AWPowerPivotBISMC.

  6. In the Workbook URL or Server Name textbox, type the URL of the PowerPivot
    workbook, for example, http://sql2012rtm/PowerPivot%20Gallery/
    AWPowerPivot.xlsx.
