Server Role and Services Installation
To confi gure Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008R2 for Clustering, fi rst, you
need to add the Application Server Role and required Server Role Services by following
these steps:- Open Server Manager. Right-click Roles section, and select Add Roles. The Add Roles
Wizard screen opens. Click Next. - On the next screen, click the check box next to Application Server to install the
Application Server Role. A pop-up window opens prompting you to install addi-
tional required features. Click the Add Required Features button to install them.
These additional required features may include the .NET Framework 3.5.1, the
Windows Process Activation Service, and the Distributed Transactions components
if they are not installed yet. - Click Next. The Select Role Services screen opens. Make sure that .Net 3.5.1
is checked. Check the check box next to Distributed Transactions along with
Incoming Remote Transactions, Outgoing Remote Transactions, and WS-Atomic
Transactions. Figure 29-1 shows the Select Role Services screen.
