Failover Cluster Manager option.

To validate a cluster confi guration follow the next steps:

  1. Open Server Manager. Expand the Features section, and right click on Failover
Cluster Manager. Select the Validate a Confi guration option. The Validate a
    Confi guration Wizard screen opens.

  2. Click Next. The Select Servers or a Cluster screen opens. Add the Windows Server
2008/2008R2 node(s) that you want to validate. If you have two nodes up and
running, it is recommended to add them both, that way the validation tool can
perform disk arbitration to ensure smooth storage failover. Figure 29-3 shows the
Select Servers or a Cluster screen.

  3. Click Next. The Testing Options screen opens. You can choose to run some or all tests.
Running a smaller set of tests is useful when you want to check only certain parts of
your confi guration; however, to be sure that you maintain full supportability of your
cluster, you should run all tests. Choose the Run All Tests option, and click Next.

  4. The confi rmation page screen shows you the list of servers to be tested along with
a list of all tests that will be performed. Depending upon the number of nodes you
selected to check and the number of confi gured disks, these tests could take quite
some time. While the tests are running, you can track progress in the progress
window. Figure 29-4 shows the validation progress window.
