Chapter 29: Clustering
29
While you have the list of cluster disks opened, it is highly recommended to change the
name property of each disk to more accurately refl ect the usage and type of fi les to be
placed on that disk. This can help a great deal later when installing SQL Server as well as
for troubleshooting purposes.
Provide friendly names to every disk. The disk names should follow an intuitive naming
convention for easy troubleshooting. Figure 29-7 shows the complete list of disks with
friendly names.

In addition, you should also provide friendly names to each network profi le. For example,
you can set the network profi le names as Public and Private so that they are clearly
identifi able. You should also change the private network so that clients are not allowed to
communicate through it.
This completes the confi guration of the Windows Server Clustering process. Now you are
ready to install SQL Server 2012 as a clustered instance.
