Configuring Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC)
To confi gure MSDTC for this SQL Server 2012 instance as a clustered resource, follow the
next steps:

  1. Open Server Manager. Expand the Features section and right-click Failover Cluster
Manager. Select the Add a Resource option. From the pop-up menu select the More
Resources option; then select the Add Distributed Transaction Coordinator option.
This adds a new MSDTC resource in an offl ine state. To confi gure and bring MSDTC
online, open the resource properties window and add dependencies for:

■ (^) Name: This is the network name of the install.
■ (^) AND Disk: This needs to be one of your shared cluster disks. An MSDTC direc-
tory will be created on the root of this disk.
MSDTC will not work if you attempt to use storage confi gured as a mount point.
