Figure 29-12 shows the Dependencies tab that will be brought online before MSDTC comes
online.

With the dependencies added you can bring the MSDTC service online. For this service to
failover correctly when you add additional nodes, you must also map MSDTC to a service.
This is done from the command line.
To map MSDTC as a service, follow the next steps:
- Open an elevated command prompt, and run MSDTC with the following switches:
■ (^) -tmMappingSet
■ (^) -name: “<any unique name is fi ne here, recommend DTC_SQLNetworkName>”
■ (^) -service: “<the actual service, for a default install this would be MSSQLSERVER;
otherwise it would be MSSQL$INSTANCENAME>”
■ (^) -ClusterResourceName: “
If the mapping is successful, another screen pops up stating Operation Succeeded.
Figure 29-13 illustrates the command line syntax and the result screen.
