  1. Click the Move SQL Server option to complete the manual failover. The following
resources will be taken offl ine in the following order:

■ (^) MSDTC
■ (^) SQL Server Agent
■ (^) SQL Server
■ (^) Shared Disk & Network Name
■ (^) IP Address
The following resources will then be moved over to the node you selected and
brought back online in the following order:
■ (^) IP Address & Shared Disk
■ (^) Network Name
■ (^) MSDTC
■ (^) SQL Server
■ (^) SQL Server Agent
The length of time that it takes for the failover process to complete and for SQL Server to be
fully available on the other node depends on the time it takes the resources to go offl ine, move
them, bring them back online again, and for SQL Server 2012 to perform database recovery.
After you perform manual failover testing, it is recommended to test automatic failover to
ensure that you get the expected behavior. This can be accomplished by forcing failures
such as:
■ (^) Pulling out network cables
■ (^) Powering down servers
■ (^) Unplugging cables to your storage
These things can be done to simulate real-world problems and should be performed prior to
your clusters going online in production.
