similar,Ithoughtthatmightshowinthepictures."
Ockengaphotographedthesistersun-clothedbecause,sheexplained,"Ithink
therehastobeanopenness,aclose-
nessinarelationshipfortwo peopletobe
abletoposenudetogether—andIwant-
ed
that
tocomethroughin
thepictures.Ialsowantedtoeliminatewhattheircloth-
inglookedlikeanddealjustwiththe
peo-
plesothattherewouldbenocolorbut
thecolorofflesh."
Tocreatethissix-framecomposite,thephotographerfirsttookthreeoverlapping
framesof
theheadsandthen,standing
slightlyfartheraway,threeoverlapping
framesofthe
bodies.Thenshearranged
themintworowsofthreepictureseach.
"Youfocusonthefaceacrossthe
top,"
shesays,"andonthebodyacrossthe
bottom ButIlikethewaytheheadsits
onthebody
too."
Whenprintingthepictures,Ockengacontrolled
the
flesh
colorscarefullytomatchtheskintonesofhersubjects:
"They'reveryroundandpink,

lookthatway."
