Henry Ford famously remarked
‘Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re quite right.’
30 THE THINKER THINKS AND THE PROVER PROVES
Stop apologising for yourself. Don’t let phrases such as the following
ever pass your lips:
■ ‘It’s onlyme!’ Don’t diminish yourself in this way. Just say ‘it’s me!’
■ ‘I’m sorry to trouble you, but...’
■ ‘I’m afraid...’
■ ‘I know it’s not very good, but...’
■ ‘I don’t want to be any trouble, but...’

Don’t apologise for what you do well. Avoid boasting, of course, but
don’t knock your achievements or devalue your experiences. The Prover
takes these as instructions to ease off, and could unintentionally
sabotage your efforts.
Be justly proud of your achievements, then the Prover assumes you
want more of the same.
209
Stop thinking of yourself as a victim. If you’re determined to be one,
you always be. If you ever feel like a victim, use this affirmation:
‘I was notbrought into the world to be a victim, and I am nota
victim.’
Write it in your notebook, and pin it to your Wall of Confidence.
