(Project Pridr) #1
Technical Notes | A Guide for Cement Technocrats 103

  • The intelligent motor control centre needs high level of skills to operation
    and maintain,

  • As the system is intelligent hence qualified technicians are required to
understand fault code displayed message. However, corrective action and
rectification is easier by following the procedures once the fault code is
    properly understood.

  • The system needs low manpower to maintenance hence cost of maintenance
is lower than conventional motor control centre.

  • The panel board is installed at central location which may be near or far
from motor or equipment like conventional motor control centre.

  • A separate electrical room is essentially required for mounting the integrated
motor control centre which should be neat & clean, dust free and preferably
air conditioned due to presence of electronic components.
    k) The system needs almost negligible human intervention since all the fault
rectification like overload relay re-setting, conditioning monitoring is possible
from remote station. The system is trouble free and safe for process industry.
    l) Since the system is an advance version of conventional motor control centre
hence it is used for large process control function where group of machines
are operated in sequential mode and controlled at a time like cement, captive
power plants, steel plants, refineries etc.
    m) This system is capable to log event history of equipment for process analysis
and fault diagnosis of individual equipment / motor.
