  • Note: Operating cost shall be validated with present condition.
For a Limestone Mine of 6.6 MTPA in which 5 million tons is the ore and 1.6 million
ton is the overburden, to minimize the cost of transportation during operation
stage, the crusher is located at the Mine Pit. This restricts the hauling distance of
the Limestone or waste to the range of 1 to 1.5km. As a thumb rule higher the
bench height, lower the cost of raising and keeping in view the crusher feed size of
1200mm cube, the bench height is decided to be of 10m. As mining is the manpower
intensive activity and keeping view the administrative problem, always it is
desirable to reduce the manpower deployment and increase the output per man-shift.
To re d u ce the traffic on the roads and reduce the exposure of the human for the
safety risk it is advisable to deploy higher capacity dump trucks.

The Advantages of Using Large Sized Excavator & Dump Trucks in Mines with short
lead, high lift and high volume of handling are as follows:

a. Reduction in manpower and associated cost

  • Workshop crew

  • Mining personnel

  • Supervision team

  • Maintenance Crew

b. Lower Overall Cost per ton

  • Higher Productivity of system

  • Higher Output per Man Shift (OMS)

c. Lower Maintenance and Mining Practice

  • Higher Reliability
