(Project Pridr) #1

10.2 Multicore:
Multicore is supplied by M/s Schenck Process India Ltd. This equipment is also,
used for weighing of Fine/powdered materials like pulverized coal for Kiln & PC
firing and raw meal for kiln feed in cement industry.

Operating Principle:

The effect of the Coriolis force is an apparent deflection of the path of an object
that moves within a rotating coordinate system. The object does not actually
deviate from its path, but it appears to do so because of the motion of the
coordinate system. The shift of an object’s path caused by the Coriolis effect
depends on the position of the object relative to the rotating body.

This principle is used in Multicore system where bulk solids hit a rotating measuring
wheel. Due to the centrifugal force, the bulk solid particles on the vane are moved
outwards. On the measuring wheel due to the acceleration in the direction of the
circumference the bulk solids are subject to the Coriolis force. This can be recorded
as a measurable variable which is proportional to the gravimetric feed rate, even
with changing bulk density or different grain size.

With MULTICOR, mass flows are exactly measured and fed in conjunction with
an adjustable pre feeder, irrespective of the properties of the bulk solids. It is
neither affected by nor sensitive to external influences.
