10.3 Solid Flow Feeder (SFF):
Measurement Principle of Solid Flow Feeder:



  • The solid flow Feeder is an on line weighing measuring machine used to monitor
    flow rate of fine solid materials. It is a combination of solid flow meter and a
    controlled regulating valve.

  • The system consist a Measuring plate mounted at a definite (slanted) on a
    shaft. The Shaft both ends are connected to load cells. The fine material falls
    directly on plate. This falling impact is transferred to load cell. Then it is
    converted into flow rate with the help of signal processing unit.

  • Based on the set point & feedback of feed rate, the control valve is opened or
    closed for the desired output.

  • Accuracy of Sold flow meter is ±1.5 to 2%.

  • Online verification of system accuracy is not possible unless significant deviation
    is observed in the feed rate.


Factors affecting the equipment performance:



  • Any coating of material on plate results in erratic reading.

  • Jamming of shaft bushing, on which plate is mounted

  • Bear & tear of plate

  • Uneven Ventilation pressure. Change in Bag Filter suction pressure affects the
    results.
