b. Electrical Design & Hardware’s



  • IMCC DOL Feeder with Pro-V Module switchgear used to start /stop the fan
    drive.

  • IMCC RDOL feeder with Pro-V Module switchgear used to forward & reverse
    operation of Damper

  • Stresses on motor winding will high because of 4-5times starting torque have
    impact on motor life.


c. Operation & Power Consumption



  • System power factor 0.85, we have to add capacitor bank/APFC in the system
    to Improve Power factor.

  • Power Loss as there is no speed control facility is made available with the
    system to save energy in case of lesser capacity feeding requirement condition

  • whereas after certain operations of Damper, operating within 90% travel
    only & resulting 5-10% Energy loss against Damper & precise Process control
    not achieved.


12.3 Proposed VVVFD Concept:
BAG filter fan drive with conventional system limitations & Disadvantages can be
overcome by replacing with VVVFD starter, addition to that will get better system
reliability, Process Optimization & Control & Power saving advantages are as under
VVVFD Technology concept based working considered in Plant A, Total -20 Nos.
of BF Fans of various ratings & Total Load – 679 KW
Following are the Major Electro Mechanical Hardware’s required to operate BF
Fans with VVVF drive:


a. Mechanical Equipment’s



  • No Damper – As No damper requirement with the system, all above mentioned
    Limitations & Disadvantages avoided & getting better reliability & Energy
    Saving on account of Damper Loss


b. Electrical Equipment’s & Hardware’s



  • VVVF Drive - VFD has one big advantage. In case rate of feed is low on
    a continuous basis, VFD provides the facility of running the fan at lower
    speed and hence can save power.
    VFDs mainly used to control the speed of fans, resulting in easy management
    and very precise control & also reduce the compressed air requirement,
    resulting power saving.

  • Comparatively Less Hardware’s requirement in VFD Concept, provided more
    system reliability, less breakdowns & resulting high productivity of system
