2.7.3 Jaw Crusher
Jaw crusher is better for the hard limestone applications. It is used for very
abrasive but dry and non-sticky material with very high compressive strength.
As the crushing ratio is low, it is used for the step crushing. A jaw crusher
reduces large size limestone by placing the stone into a fixed jaw for compres
sion, mounted in a “V” alignmentis the stationary breaking surface, while the
move able jaw plate exerts force on the stone by forcing it against the fixed
jaw plate. The space at bottom of the V”, aligned jaw plate is the crusher product
size gap, or the size of the crushed product from thejaw crusher.
