(Project Pridr) #1

there fore, the net effective storage capacity of a two stockpile plant is 50% of
the gross storage capacity. This ratio can be improved in three or four stockpile.

  • Advantages
ƒ No slewing stacker required for single unit.
ƒ Capacity of storage can be increased on either side or increasing the length of
    stockpile whenever required.
ƒ The correction layer can be put in pile easily as it is a batch process.
ƒ In case the materials are stored partially, and then the roofing can also be
provided in stages. This will save/defer the capital cost.

  • Disadvantages
ƒ Building will be very long if the stockpiles are under roofed cover, which
is now a day’s mandatory requirement by MOEF.
ƒ This type of pile having end cone problems, because the cross section of
the face rom which the material is being reclaimed will vary from slice to
slice. Be sides not all the stockpile layers are simultaneously removed in each
slice, especially when the reclaimer starts on stockpile, the homogenizing
effect is at first liable to vary unsatisfactory because of considerable
segregation at the time of stacking.
ƒ High length/Width ratio makes very difficult to accommodate the layout
    and require more plant space.
ƒ Belt conveyors lengths are very long.

Note: Points to be considered while selecting the Stacker above 1800 tph capacity
ƒ Stacker shall have at least 4 travel drive
ƒ The Braking torque of travel drive shall be designed considering (20% margin)
over design capacity of yard belt conveyor.
ƒ If possible, the brake shall be of hydraulic
ƒ The belt speed of yard conveyor shall be always higher by at least 20%
for the similar width of preceding conveyor and Jib conveyor speed shall be
20% higher than the stacker yard conveyor
ƒ The throw off car angle shall not be more than 16 ̊.
ƒ The counter weight design shall be modular type and restricted size for easy
removal/ installation post erection without removing the sheeting for crane
approach. This point shall be discussed with respective supplier during
technical discussion.
ƒ The snub pulley arrangement for yard conveyor shall be preferred in line with
Fig. 2 rather Fig. 1 for reducing the belt Pull force while stacker in operation.
