This type of shed takes more erection time as it requires specialized skilled man
power for the erection. In India, presently no such skilled manpower is available.
4.2 Site Fabricated or Prefabricated Shed
This type of shed is designed by the consultant and fabricated at site or designed
and fabricated by supplier at shop floor. This is made of standard steel sections
or plate fabricated structure. The typical storage shed of this type is shown in
figure below:
Here are some disadvantages of Fabricated shed over tubular structure.
- High weight
- Higher civil cost
- Higher capital cost
- Higher erection cost
- Lower seismic resistance
- Depends on two agencies (Designer and Fabricator)
- Higher delivery time
- Fewer no. of loading points
The erection time for this type of shed in India is less as compared to above
typeshed; because it requires a same skill like for fabricated structure erection.
