these; and then having reached Them, the
greater,thatarestillbeyond. Forinthispath
ofspiritual progress bywayof devotion,every
stepopens upnewhorizons,andeveryclearing
ofthespiritualvisionmakesitpiercemoredeeply
intothatintensityof Lightinwhichthehighest
SpiritualIntelligencesareshroudedfromtheeyes
ofthe flesh and of the intellect. And so the
Soulwhoisinhim,theSoulofthedevotee,will
gladlyrecogniseallhumanexcellencearoundhim,
will loveand admirethat excellence wherever
hefindsit; hewill,infact,touseawordwhich
many scoff at-he will be a hero-worshipper,
notasseeingnofaultinthosewhomheadmires,
butasseeingmostthegoodinthemandloving
that, and letting the recognition of the good
overbearthe criticism of the fault: loving and
serving them for what they are to man, and
throwing the mantle of charity overthe faults
whichtheymaycommitintheirservice. And
asheseesandrecognisesthisinthosearoundhim,
hewill come into touch with higher Disciples
than those who move most commonly in the
worldofmen-thosewhohavereachedalittle
farther, those who have seen a little deeper.
