FIND MY APP
Another exciting new development on macOS
Catalina is the Find My app, which replaces the
previous Find My Mac app and Find My Friends
app on iOS. For the first time, iOS and macOS
can locate devices and see where your friends
are from a single location, and you can even find
your missing or stolen Mac when it doesn’t
have a WiFi or cellular connection.
Indeed, the new technology works by utilizing
crowd-sourced location information that is
delivered through Bluetooth signals, using
end-to-end encryption to keep your location
safe and requiring at least two Apple devices to
work. When your lost or stolen Mac gives off a
broadcast as a public key, other devices can pick
up that key, and your location will be sent back
to you, which is super convenient and makes
owning a Mac even safer than before.
