I wish to express my gratitude to my many students, who so will-
ingly devoted their time and effort in practice. I wish also to thank
them for consenting to be interviewed so that others might know
what they experienced and how they were helped through this prac-
tice.
I want to thank Dr. Lawrence Young, attending physician at New
York Infirmary-Beekman Downtown Hospital and a private inter-
nist, Dr. C. Y. Hsu, physician-in-charge of the Acupuncture and
Nerve Block Clinic at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Stephen
Pan, Ph.D, Director of East Asian Research Institute, and K. Reid
Shaw attorney, who are actively engaged in presenting my work to
the medical community.
I wish to offer my appreciation to Sam Langberg, for his under-
standing and untiring work in editing the first edition. Sam Langberg
is a freelance writer and a Taoist Esoteric Yoga instructor living in
the New York area. He has been practicing Yoga for over 10 years,
and currently works with the Taoist Esoteric Yoga Center writing
classbooks and other materials.
Many thanks go to Michael Winn and Robin Winn for long months
spent revising and expanding the second edition. I thank Susan
MacKay who revised our Taoist Esoteric Yoga sitting figure, and
my secretary Joann for her patience in typing and retyping the
manuscript.
Finally, I am grateful to my son, Max, whose suggestions and
encouragement in this, as in all matters, have always been valu-
able to me.
