Treatment principle The treatment principle adopted was to tonify Qi and Blood, strengthen
Kidney-Yang, benefit sinews and bones and expel Wind-Dampness. She
was treated with both acupuncture and herbs.
Acupuncture The acupuncture points used (with reinforcing method to tonify Qi and
Blood and even method to expel Wind-Dampness) were selected from
the following:
T.B.-5 Waiguan to expel Wind.
L.I.-11 Quchi to resolve Dampness and benefit sinews.
SP-9 Yinlingquan, SP-6 Sanyinjiao and BL-22 Sanjiaoshu to resolve
Dampness.
Baxie extra points to expel Wind-Dampness from the fingers.
Ren-6 Qihai and Ren-4 Guanyuan to tonify Qi and Blood in general.
ST-36 Zusanli to tonify Spleen-Qi.
BL-11 Dashu, Gathering point for bones, to benefit the bones.
Du-14 Dazhui and Du-12 Shenzhu to strengthen the Governing Vessel
and the Defensive-Qi in order to expel pathogenic factors.
Herbal treatment The decoction used was a variation of the combination of the two
prescriptions for the middle and late stages of Sinews-Bones Painful
Obstruction Syndrome.
